CIHSRThe Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) at Dimapur is an answer to prayers of the inhabitants of Nagaland tucked in the North-eastern corner of India. The State of Nagaland was formally inaugurated on 1st December 1963 as the 16th State of the Indian Union. It is bounded by Assam in the West, Myanmar (Burma) on the east, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam on the North and Manipur in the South. The State consists of eleven administrative Districts, inhabited by 16 major tribes along with other sub-tribes. Each tribe is distinct in character from the other in terms of customs, language and dress.

During the past twenty-two years while the people of Nagaland waited for their own Referral Hospital offering state-of-the-art tertiary level medical care large funds, efforts and sacrifices poured into the projects successively called ‘Referral Hospital’ and ‘Revitalization of the Referral Hospital’. The 29th of October 2007 marked the completion of the initial phase of the revitalization process when the facility started offering clinical services through 115 of a possible 630 beds. The next successive steps will be to establish the State’s first Medical College besides a School of Nursing and a Kindergarten to Class XII English-medium CBSE-pattern school of repute.
